Explorers summer family club

Explorers is our summer holiday family club. Explorers gets families out on the water safely whilst teaching basic seamanship skills and expanding children’s knowledge and skills in a fun and engaging way. Explorers sessions are delivered using structured session plans with clear objectives combining watersports and learning. You and your family will get to experience a range of activities and enjoy team and individual challenges as well as learning about important things such as weather, tides and rules of the waves.

Explorers is designed to bring families together, to grow your children’s confidence around, in and on the water and to teach them a range of new skills all within a safe and fun format.

Please note that due to Government restrictions, our events are on hold at the moment. However, we are still operating our beach hire activities.

As with all our event and hire activities, we take safety very seriously. We run a tight ship and our team are there to support you from the minute you arrive.

We will always give you a safety briefing before you head out on the water and make sure your buoyancy aids are correctly fitted to keep you safe and sound. We are absolutely committed to you having a great time on the water, every time.

Explorers takes places during the summer holidays on set days (TBC). Sessions last 1.5 hours and there are two session times available: 14:00 – 15:30 16:00 – 17:30
Our watersports hire activities such as stand up paddleboarding and kayaking are accessible for all ages and abilities. We provide all the safety gear you will need as well as safety cover. Our friendly team will make sure that everyone is confident on the water and has a great experience.
The cost is £TBC per kayak/SUP and so children and parents can either use their own equipment or choose to share a kayak or SUP if you have younger children.
Explorer sessions are capped at 12 people with a Stoked member of staff looking after each group of 6.
We provide lifejackets for all ages. However, the suitability depends on several factors. Our advice is to choose a day with favourable weather conditions and sea state. Our friendly team will then assist you and make sure you and your little ones are safe. The most important thing after safety is that your child is confident. Look at their body language and listen to them. Ease them into boating activities and, once they are confident, they will love it. If you are unsure, get in touch and we will hatch a plan.
We provide kayaks, paddles, buoyancy aids, dry bags, and spray tops. All you need to bring is a full change of clothes, a pair of shoes, sun cream and a towel.
Explorers is about bringing families together to have fun and learn. However, we appreciate that not everyone likes getting wet. You do not have to accompany your children on the water; however, you do need to stay on the shoreside as they are still your responsibility.
This is fine, but we advise parents to email us to inform us that this is the case or provide evidence on the day. Please note that when signing in anyone participating in Stoked activities, we will need to capture some basic details such as personal information and emergency contact details. Without these, we cannot let them participate.
We provide safety cover will all our events and hire activities. We take safety very seriously and there is always a trained first aider on site. Before you go on the water you will be kitted up with safety gear and given a briefing. On the water, we’ll keep an eye on your group and provide hints and tips or more comprehensive coaching as required.
